Focus: Application of nuclear technology for assessing and responding to marine environment contamination Relevance: Nuclear techniques allow accurate and specific validation of contaminant transport model which is otherwise not often or not well done. Nuclear techniques provide a precise and cost-effective way to acquire site- specific contaminant dose-response data Conclusions: Accurate model validation is extremely important. IAEA/RCA is playing an important role in capability development and regional co-operation. Securing social acceptance of nuclear power plants and minimizing environmental impact are very important for sustainable socio-economic development Emerging issues: There are plans to construct many new NPPs in the region and marine monitoring capabilities need to be developed and improved. - Reported to the Plenary Session after the Conference and documented -

Advantages of using nuclear techniques in solving currently impending problems compared to conventional technologies should be highlighted Presentation on easy and understandable way is pre-requisite for non-nuclear audience Topics attractive to the Conference purpose and theme should be considered Wider communication with participants from other communities should be pursued Information exchange among the related RCA stakeholders on the outcomes of the Conference should be made Continued networking with other communities is necessary Logistic arrangements for the RCA participant(s) should be well made
