EGI-InSPIRE INFSO-RI Index 1. Introduction 2. Initial phase 3. Hungrid now 4. Hungrid in the future
EGI-InSPIRE INFSO-RI Initial phase Beginnings: –LCG/EGEE grid usage only as a VO member –Many potential users are not part of any VOs Motivation and aim in 2005: –Until 2005 Hungarian grid users were only from HEP –To extend user communities, to draw all Hungarian participants –To provide catch-all VO for non VO member participants –Platform of 24/7 availability –Open to anyone from the Hungarian academic and educational field. 1st official Hungarian Virtual Organization
EGI-InSPIRE INFSO-RI Hungrid now I. Hungrid now –Constantly evolving –2 more institutes have joined their resources –Current member institutes: BME, ELTE, NIIF, KFKI RMKI, SZTAKI –Twofold goal: catch-all VO for all the Hungarian participants who are not part of any EGEE VO. Provide EGEE testing and preparation environment for prospective Hungarian VOs Further increase the number of users Broaden the range of application areas
EGI-InSPIRE INFSO-RI Hungrid now II. Provided services: –User Interface –LCG File Catalog –Computing Element –Storage Element –BDII –Logging and Bookkeeping services –VOMS –Workload Management System –MyProxy –Message Passing Interface –Hungrid portal 5
EGI-InSPIRE INFSO-RI Hungrid now III. Resources by member institutes: Currently 82 users ~ 10 active user
EGI-InSPIRE INFSO-RI Hungrid now IV. uses gLite middleware constantly evolving
EGI-InSPIRE INFSO-RI Hungrid now V.
EGI-InSPIRE INFSO-RI Hungrid now VI. Hungrid Gstat
EGI-InSPIRE INFSO-RI Recent Statistics out of computational jobs 95% of CPU time
EGI-InSPIRE INFSO-RI Application areas Not only from HEP: –Air pollution forecast simulations –Parity conserving to directed percolation –Kardar-Parisi-Zhang growth onto a driven lattice gas model of dimers –Morphology classes of convex bodies based on static equilibria –Analysing the geometric sensitivity of truss –Medical visualization for PET, SPECT, CT and MRI devices
EGI-InSPIRE INFSO-RI Hungrid future Further goals: –To extend resources –To broaden the range of application areas –Gaining new users –Sandbox role for the new Hungarian VOs –Involving more Hungarian institutes with HPC Possibility of remote administration, help with installing gLite –Job accounting –Considering NAREGI –Role in education
