Downtown Stakeholder Meeting November 2014 East End and Southeast Line Construction to Operations Light Rail Startup & Operations
Rail Startup: Update HRT Turnover to METRO System integration test Downtown Late November thru 3 rd week in December Majority of the testing will occur during the evening hours 7pm-4am Monday-Friday Weekend Testing will occur during ALL hours – METRO will work with stake holders so as to not impact their events. MPD & Safety presence during testing Contractor to turn over to METRO lines in the late December & January timeframes 16
Rail Startup: Update Pre-Revenue Operations Starts Mid to late December for Downtown Segment – Majority of operations will during the evening hours 7pm-4am Monday-Friday – Weekend operations will occur during ALL hours. – METRO will work with stake holders so as to not impact their events. MPD & Safety presence Ends with two weeks of Simulated Service Metro expects to open all lines in Early April 17
Rail Startup: Last train Friday and Saturday – To Palm Center 1:50 AM – To Altic 2:10 AM – To Northline 1:42 AM – To Downtown & Medical Center 2:40 AM Sunday – To Palm Center 12:20 AM – To Altic 12:40 AM – To Northline 11:26 PM – To Downtown and Medical Center 12:29 AM METRO reviewing possibility of running 24 hrs. on weekends METRO will review ridership on these last trains and make adjustment if required.
Questions When will the train actually be operational? – Revenue Service anticipated early April 2014 How many trains will actually run this route? – Initially, 10 singles will operate every 6min. 2 car trains will be used during special events (Soccer, Astros, Rockets, etc.) The trains won’t honk at you when you are queued up to enter garages in the morning? – No, Operators are trained only to use an audible devices (Horn / Whistle) to enhance safety. How will the Hotel Valet lane and the rail affect the 801 Travis Garage? – Lessons learned during SIT and Pre-revenue Operations will be carried forward into revenue service. Will the Main Street station be operational sooner than the lines opening? – Exact date for station opening is unknown at this time. How many lights will drivers have to wait on now that there are more lanes of rails? – Part of SIT and Pre-revenue Operations is to fine tune the traffic and train signals to maximize train and automobile movement.
