Hello My name is Elham. I am studying in Linnus university I came from Iran. I am an electronic engineer, I am here to study English and then continue my education in master degree and today I am going to provide my oral presentation with the subject of :

Do you like to live in a grand family ? Do you know the benefit of living in a big family ?

The family is one of the most valuable concepts for the origin of the human race and the development of his position.

Starting a family can be traced back to the era Adam and Eve.

Primitive human defined the concept of family in safety, shelter, protection and eating.

After long years, human's interest and behavior changed. People began to learn and make and farming and then the concept of big family created.

Family form societies’ body in every country.

In some countries, like eastern societies, it is still common that all members of families live together.

If we look at families in the old days for example 300 years ago, families were used to be very large in size.

One of the reasons is that human was farmer in th e beginning of the history.

Farming was the most common job at that time; therefore, parents liked to have more children to help them in the farm.

Even after their children marriage, they stay in the same house.

In this way grandchildren grew up with grandfather and grandmother.

The same story has happened in my country Iran.

I think, it is better for all grand family to live together ; father, mother, the sons and daughters and also the grandchildren. I myself prefer to live in a big family, too.

One possible reason is that if the extended family live together; it is possible for them to help with the daily work of the family, particularly with raising the children.

Children require a lot of attention, and it takes a lot of work to raise them well.

Grandparents who live as part of the grand family can be very helpful with all the unique experiences that help a lot to raise children.

From sociological point of view, children who have been grown up in such big families are more self confident.

In addition, grandparents can reassure the children in the matter of attention when parents are not available at home.

Another benefit of having a big family is providing the environment for sharing ideas and helping each other to solve problems and feeling more happiness in this way together.

Even it is beneficial for grandparents themselves that they could never feel lonely and also they can feel of being useful after retirement.

In my family, it is quite common to live all members together ; my grandparent and my aunts, my uncle actually live in the same house with my parents and my brothers and sisters, and several other cousin live in the big house with several rooms.

A shared kitchen with a big garden.

In this way all children can play together and feel more happy almost all the time. Every night, all members meet each other.

I would like to express my feelings with an example : when I was born,my parents lived together with my grandparents.

During my school years, whenever I came back from school, the smell of a warm lunch which has been cooked by my grandmother filled the home…So delicious it was ….

Every thing was ready even though my mother was at work.I enjoyed eating lunch with my grandparents and my mother and father came back home after a while.

As my mother didn’t engage in cooking, she had enough time to talk to me and my father and other family members instead.

After a few years, I realized that I have inherited my grand mother’s hand cooking besides some other habits.

One another important benefit in this kind of life is that the cultural traditions can be taught by elders to young generation.

And the other advantage of living in a large family can be the greater possibility of transferring the valuable experiences of grandparents to the younger members of family.

It can be seen that having an extended family and living together would be quite beneficial indifferent aspects like warmer family environment

children's higher level of self confidence

Sharing idea and etc.

It could not only assumed as a demand of families but also a demand of society in passing culture and tradition as well as useful experiences to the young generation.
