3 C OLLABORATION - A L EARNING S TORY -I used the (adapted) iTec learning story -Problem – 31 students in the class – and 6 tablets -I selected two groups (3 girls – 3 boys) working independently) -Task: to create a multimedia product about the rainforest destruction

10 T ABLETS OR L APTOPS ? -Some – critical - remarks -It makes a difference if you are working with younger students or in a higher secondary school -The older they are the more they have to work in a “scientific way” – that means they need more specialised software, writing more texts, … -Some work is better done with a bigger screen, keyboard and mouse -In a survey students (14 to 15 years old) said that they would prefer laptops (the score was 29:2) -BUT……

11 T ABLETS ? -I saw some nice ideas -and a lot of happy children working with tablets -I got to know nice applets and teaching methods -and realised again that -you – as teacher – must have a clear idea what do you/your students want to do with tablets! -Do you find the “right” tablets? -Do you have/get technical support? -Do you have colleagues to work with?
