Organizational Analysis Assignment This assignment is designed to help you understand how data are analyzed to diagnose barriers to goal achievement in organizations. I want you to know the process to take to analyze data, and consider different options to present the data. It is up to us as OD consultants to tell the story with the data, and not just present a bunch of numbers. We need to make sense of it and then connect it with what the managers and leaders in the organization care about. Analysis – Hypothetical Outline the steps you would take to analyze the data. Identify two possible main themes that could emerge, and present data (make it up) that show these themes to be of interest. While we want to take time to acknowledge what is working well, focus your two themes on barriers to goal achievement. Keep in mind that for the final project, and in future assignments, you will need to identify and design two distinct (although they can be related) interventions to overcome or mitigate these barriers. Analysis – Applied Include response rate, sample size Use item analysis measures appropriate to reveal story behind the data Include any qualitative themes that have emerged 4

Analyzing Assessments Item Analysis ◦ Frequencies ◦ Means ◦ Standard Deviations ◦ Ranges ◦ Percentages Content Analysis ◦ Write-in comments Conceptual Analysis ◦ Correlations Comparative Analysis ◦ Time-based trending ◦ Other-based comparisons 5 Not expected for this assignment
