Wal-Mart is no longer No. 1. The American consumer is out - a global oil conglomerate is in. There's a clear sea-change in American business. AIG, Lehman and Bear Stearns fell off the list from Nike, Google and Amazon moved up. The world is increasingly less Amero-centric. An American company is not No. 1 for the first time in over a decade. 140 companies are American, the lowest number on record. China now has 37 companies in the list of 500, its largest presence ever. 7 of the top 10 firms are oil companies. Still making money - the 2008 top 25 pulled in $4.88 trillion in revenue. This year they made $5.38 trillion. Fortune 500 Companies

“The North Central Texas area ranks very high in meeting the business needs of our company, for several reasons: * Local high-tech workforce (engineers) * Affordable housing * Reasonable cost of living * Major airport (easy access to/from both coasts) * Telecommunications Center * Nice climate (except for the 100 plus days) “ Copyright InterLink 2009

“I look at "economic sphere of influence.” With that view, DFW rates very high as I see most of the technological influence for not only TX, but also OK, AR, and LA centered in DFW. “ Copyright InterLink 2009
