I NTRODUCTION ACM and IEEE-CS publishes the first model curriculum report for information technology (IT), called IT2008 ACM forms an exploratory committee to determine whether IT2008 requires updating ACM/IEEE-CS forms a task group charged with developing a modern curricular report for information technology (IT2017) The new IT2017 report would encompass modern technologies and educational advances for the mid-2020s 2

B UILDING A C URRICULUM Curricular framework forms the foundation of any curriculum in information technology Task group recommends at least 420 hours of technical preparation The group recommends that an IT program should contain: At least 90 hours of mathematics and Some science for exposure to the scientific method IT Domains are NOT courses Programs address related subdomains over several courses 10

C ONCLUSION IT has transitioned: IT2017 task group strives to produce curricular recommendations that generate the ultimate graduate who: Meets and adapts to a changing enterprise computing field, and Has opportunities to do advanced studies for the betterment of humanity 12 Applied part of the curriculum infrastructure Essential part of that infrastructure
