This course prepares students for the Microsoft Office 2013 Specialist Exam.

BUSINESS COMPUTER APPLICATIONS II BUSINESS COMPUTER APPLICATIONS II- Microsoft IT Academy Option Prerequisite: BCA I - Passing grade BOTH semesters Grade Level: 10, 11, 12 FULL YEAR This course is designed to develop additional student understanding and skills in such areas as the use of software packages in theaareas of word processing, spreadsheet, database, Internet and multimedia software using Microsoft Office Students utilize problem-solving techniques and participate in hands-on activities to develop an understanding of course concepts. This course prepares students for the Microsoft Office 3013 Specialist Exam.

ACCOUNTING PRINCIPLES I Prerequisite: None Grade Level: 10, 11, 12 FULL YEAR This course prepares students with the basic principles of the accounting cycle. Students study the basic principles, concepts and practices of the accounting cycle which includes financial statements, banking, payroll, business ownerships and an accounting career orientation. Course highly recommended for students planning a business major in college. Students encouraged taking in 10th or 11th grade to be able to continue with Accounting II. What does an accountant do? The primary task of accountants, which extends to all the others, is to prepare and examine financial records. They make sure that records are accurate and that taxes are paid properly and on time. Accountants and auditors perform overviews of the financial operations of a business in order to help it run efficiently.

Those in a forensic accounting career combine their accounting, auditing and investigative skills to analyze and interpret business and financial evidence, and can participate in trials as expert witnesses.

Salaries? Job Growth? According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics' Occupational Outlook Handbook, the median national annual salary for accountants and auditors is $65,940. Actual salaries may vary greatly based on specialization within the field, location, years of experience and a variety of other factors. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ (BLS) Occupational Outlook Handbook places job growth for accountants and auditors at 11 percent through 2024, faster than average for all occupations.

BUSINESS LAW ( offered 2017, then alternating years with Intro to Business & Marketing) Prerequisite: Introduction to Business and Marketing (recommended) Grade Level: 10, 11, 12 FULL YEAR This area of study is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed in business and related occupations. The program area focuses on the impact of law as it relates to business and individuals. Students will examine criminal and civil law with a concentration on consumer, contract, property, and employment law while assessing ethics as they relate to each. Students will utilize problem-solving techniques and participate in hands-on activities to develop an understanding of course concepts. Teachers should provide each student with real world learning opportunities and instruction related to business and marketing occupations.
