Routines and Independence Please be in the playground in good time for the 8.55 a.m. bell. Three break times at (15mins); (1 hour, including lunch) and 2.15 (15mins) End of the day 3.00 p.m. No parent shall be in the building without an appointment through Tricia. (Mrs Goodman) 3 Children will be expected to do things for themselves – dressing, ‘lost’ things, tidying classroom. Everything owned by your child must have a name label. Home-time – please be patient and stay back from the line until the teacher is ready.

Children will need Labelled water Bottle with plain water – kept at the side of the room. Comfortable space at home for doing homework/reading. 4

Healthy School 5 We are a healthy school. Please pack a healthy lunch, with a napkin. Also encourage children to give out healthy/non-food treats for Birthdays e.g. pencils

P.E. Twice a week – INDOOR AND OUTDOOR Fully labelled P.E. kit white shorts / yellow t-shirt / black plimsolls Grey sweatshirt and joggers (both with logo) - Socks for girls if they wear tights in winter Small Stud earrings only Long hair tied back 6

Reading Children are expected to read and discuss their reading every day for at least 10 minutes. Please sign the yellow reading Record Book when your child has read to you/with you. Guided reading – your child will be heard by their class teacher through the guided reading sessions once a week. Books will be changed once each week – ONLY if the reading record is signed. 7

Home Learning Home Learning will be sent on Fridays and must be returned by the following Wednesday. We will send a note with details of tasks and how they relate to the week’s learning. Talking / finding / writing /numeracy. Generally one recorded task. Spellings will be given out on Thursday and assessed on the following Thursday. There will be one spelling book used for home and school. 8

Handwriting 9 We will be teaching handwriting using the ‘Nelson’ scheme and style. The whole school will use this style – even the staff. An example is attached to notes.

Concerns and Communication 11  If you have a concern, please mention it to your child’s teacher. Teachers may not be able to see you straight away but are happy to make an appointment.  Please do not approach the teacher before the school day, but send a note in with your child or to Mrs Goodman (Tricia)
