Next Steps:  In your process journal make a heading titled “A community in Need” Examples:  Target Community: Dog Owners  Target Community: Cancer Patients  Target Community: Elementary Students  Target Community: Nursing Home  Target Community: Homeless Children  Target Community: Homeless Veterans

A Community in Need  Based on the community you are choosing to target, gather information about the need of that community.  How many people in the community?  Who are they?  Where are they located?  What are their ages?  What challenges /problem does the community face?  Remember to put all your information in your Process Journal.  Your supervisor will be checking your Process Journal December 17 th

Investigate to Identify a Need  1. Analyze your information to begin to see what is lacking missing or needed in the community. If you can not identify a need you may need to do more research  2. List one or more “needs” the community has  IMPORTANT: It is crucial that your “need” really exists and is not just a hunch. You will be working on developing a proposal for action. The proposal must be based on proof/evidence that the action that you want to plan for is truly needed and necessary to help the community

DUE Thursday December 17 th Completed in Process Journal:  A Community in Need. You should have: a) The targeted community stated clearly b) Lots of notes and statistics about the community based on research. Make sure you cite you research in you process journal as well c) At least 1 identifiable “need” for the community based on your research d) At least 2-4 sources of information are included
