Presentation transcript:

INTRODUCTION:- The approaching 4G (fourth generation) mobile communication systems are projected to solve still-remaining problems of 3G (third generation) systems. The term 4G is used broadly to include several types of broadband wireless access communication systems. 4G is MAGIC—Mobile multimedia. Global mobility support, Integrated wireless solution, and Customized personal service. Will support the fixed wireless networks.

Multi-technology Approach :

Key 4G Technologies:-

OFDMA :- OFDM also provides a frequency diversity gain, improving the physical layer performance. It ensures very robust transmission in multi-path environments with reduced receiver complexity. OFDM modulation can also be employed as a multiple access technology This not only provides additional flexibility for resource allocation but also enables cross-layer optimization of radio link usage.

Software defined radio:- Software Defined Radio (SDR) benefits from today’s high processing power to develop multi-band, multi-standard base stations and terminals. The terminals will adapt the air interface to the available radio access technology, at present this is done by the infrastructure. SDR makes this reconfiguration easy. SDR will become an enabler for the aggregation of multi-standard pico/micro cells.

Multiple-input multiple-output:-

Interlayer optimization:-

Handover and mobility:- Handover technologies based on mobile IP technology have been considered for data and voice. In single-frequency networks, it is necessary to reconsider the handover methods. macro-diversity implies that MIMO processing is centralized and transmissions are synchronous.

Caching and Pico Cells:-

Multimedia service delivery, service adaptation and robust transmission:- Audio and video coding is scalable. A video flow can be split into three flows which can be transported independently. Video transmissions are currently transmitted without error and without packet loss. Error rates of about 10-5 /10-6 and a packet loss around 10-2 /10-3. Coded images still contain enough redundancy for error correction. Multimedia transmission can provide a good quality user experience.

Coverage:- Coverage is achieved by adding new technologies and progressively enhancing density. Direct penetration Indoor short range radio connected to the fixed network. Connection via a relay to a pico cellular access point.

Integration in a Broadband NGN :- The focus is now on deploying an architecture realizing convergence between the fixed and mobile networks. This generic architecture integrates all service enablers and offers a unique interface to application service providers.

Conclusion :- To reduce a number of technologies to a single global standard. Projected 4G systems offer this promise of a standard that can be embraced worldwide through its key concept of integration. Future wireless networks will need to support diverse IP multimedia applications to allow sharing of resources among multiple users. The fourth generation promises to fulfill the goal of PCC a vision that affordably provides high data rates everywhere over a wireless network. Sufficient spectrum, with associated sharing mechanisms. Coverage with two technologies Caching technology in the network and terminals.
