2 BacSoft Company BacSoft works in the field of wireless and automation control for industrial systems and production lines.

3 Project Goals Create a unique interface between BacSoft modem and a sensor network. This interface should translate Modbus to ZigBee. Interface that enables remote control, monitoring, access, and configuration of the sensors via mobile phone, PDA, or any Internet-connected PC.

5 What Is ZigBee ? ZigBee is a wireless communication standard for wireless automation control based on IEEE standard. ZigBee is a protocol targeting low bandwidth wireless applications, for automation and monitoring. ZigBee is low power consumption wireless solution. ZigBee has a low memory usage.

8 ZigBee Network Devices Network Coordinator: Starts the network Acts as router in all other aspects Router: Scans for a network and joins it Assists in communications for sleeping devices End Device: Intended to be battery-powered Wakes up occasionally to send and/or receive messages All devices run end-product applications

9 ModBus Protocol A simple master-slave communication protocol Works over a UART connection. Include two message types: Query and Response Intended for read and write from and to memory addresses

Program a new RF test application that sends a text message to the receiver device, and displays it on the receivers LCD monitor.

16 Project Advancement Cont. Phase 3: Using UART connection to transmit data from PC to the device Program the device to receive a text message from the UART connection and display it on the LCD monitor.

17 Project Advancement Cont. Phase 4: Use MODBUS Protocol to communicate between the PC and the device via UART connection. Use Modscan32 software to simulate MODBUS packets send from the PC. Program the device to communicate with the computer using MODBUS protocol.

18 Future Project Work Communicate between BacSoft modem and the device using MODBUS Protocol Implement ZigBee/IEEE protocol on the devices.
