Energy ***ENERGY DURING PHASES CHANGES – Energy must be lost to the environment or gained from the environment in order for any phase change to take place

Kinetic Energy Energy in motion (object in motion or moving) Example: particles vibrating

Thermal Energy The form of energy that is created by heat, or an increase in temperature. Energy possessed by an object due to the movement of particles within the object. Because thermal energy has to do with the movement of particles it is a type of kinetic energy. Example: Boiling
