Comparing Fractions Follow-up at the Building from Virginia Simpson’s work Early Release Roseburg Public Schools-Elementary October 2013

Today’s Goal Teachers will continue to develop a better understanding of the trajectory of fraction concepts K-5 by doing the math and reading the Common Core Progressions document on fractions.

Private Think Time Take 15 minutes to read the CCSS Fractions Progressions Document K-3 As you read-highlight/take notes about key ideas and wonderings you have.

Partner Share Take turns with a partner to discuss your key ideas and wonderings. Make sure your partnership has equitable voice.

Analyze Student Work Partners look at examples of the student work on the task involving fractions. Based on what you just learned about the trajectory of fractions concepts K-3, what does this student understand/still need to learn about fractions? What questions would you want to ask this student to better understand how best to respond to their learning needs?

Plenary (Large Group Share Out)

Before we finish Please fill out the exit slip and leave on the center of your table before you leave.
