What’s Happening in Class ! Language Arts ( Fuller)-If you have a snow day AND a teacher workday in one week, then you won't have any vocabulary!!! (Great Cause and Effect statement!) Which, by the way, is our new Reading Unit. I have posted practices on Fusion and students have a study guide. We will be back on for vocabulary this week. Our UnitTest on Cause and Effect will be on Friday, Feb. 13th. Passports and projects were well done-thank you for your support! Six more books for this quarter. If you need some extra support try the IXL Reading lessons below (or any of the Reading ones really! - NN1-NN5, OO1-OO3, DD1, FF1, EE1-EE3, QQ1-QQ3. Remember student homework is to read minutes nightly and every Fri. vocabulary word work is due and there will be a quiz unless otherwise noted. Math (Young) –We have wrapped up our measurement unit and will now be testing on Monday due to the snow day last week. Our next unit is fractions and decimals number sense, and it’s a doozy! The students will be expected to compare and order fractions, mixed numbers, and decimals. We will start off by working with just fractions and then we will add decimals to the mix. We will not be doing any calculations with fractions or decimals in this unit… just comparing and ordering. Don’t forget that it is a good idea to have students get on IXL for minutes each night to practice. Science (Rodgers ) - The time is now! Science projects are due on Monday. The students will be presenting them to the class next week. The fourth grade classes will view these wonderful projects on Thursday the 5th during our lunch time ( right before the awards assembly. I am so proud of the work that has been doen by these excellent science students. The abstract and the lab notebook can be turned in seperately form the tri - fold board. Thanks for your support with these projects! Sciencebuddies and your child's binder are good resources for what needs to be doen on the tri - fold board. Social Studies (Rodgers) - We are continuing our westward travels with lessons about the great states of the West region. The children have gotten information about a really fun home project about a significant feature of the west. It could be a diorama of a volcano in hawaii or something similar. I would not start this until after the science projects are finished next week. The due date for this project is February 20th. The information is in the students' binders and I will send an electronic copy next week. Quick Reminders Please check your student’s agenda daily. A signature from you will communicate that you were able to see assignments and upcoming quizzes/tests. (Not required!) Attendance hotline number: Keep up to date on the latest goings on at school by viewing the Ashland Announcer and Falcon Flyers on the school website. Want extra practice for Language Arts or Math? IXL is now avaliable for both subjects. Mrs. Fuller and Mrs. Yoiung's Fusion pages both have great links for practice as well! School News Birthday cookies (peanut free) can be purchased through Mrs. Schrader in the cafeteria. Call her at to make arrangements. Cookies cost $3.70 per dozen. Please use the link on Ashland’s home page to register for Parent Portal if you have not done so already. This will also link you to our classroom webpage. This will enable you to check your student’s grades from home. It will also add you to our Fusion Pages. Your student can long onto Fusion from the Ashland homepage using their student number as their username and their birthday with only numbers as their password....example October 3, 2001 would be NOTE: Ashland's Kindness Week and Trevor's Treasures Toy Drive has been extended to Wed., Feb 4th.Donations of new toys and books are appreciated!! On days where there is a 2 hour delay, there will be no strings class. Please remember to practice your strings lessons and view Ms. Heim’s School Fusion page for videos to help. Don’t forget that the winter months can be hard on our instruments, and they may require tuning more often. Please bring your instrument to Ms. Heim if you feel that it needs to be tuned. Don’t forget that your child needs the TDAP booster vaccine before they enter middle school. They will not be given their homeroom assignments until the middle school has a record of this shot. Please contact Mrs. Peoples or see our Fusion pages for more information. BIG IDEA: Students cleaned out their book boxes, cubbies and desks this week. Please help this organization support by doing a book bag check at home! Other things to look for: Classroom books that need to be returned, library books, school forms that haven't been turned in and a supply check! We have noticed that some students are in need of pencils, crayons, glue, etc! Let's help them out at school and at home! Thanks! The red team is in need of pencils! If you have any that you can spare to donate to our classrooms, please send them in. Thanks1 Red Team Weekly Newsletter January 30th * &
