Why Unplug? What is the Big Deal?  The Wiring of the Adolescent Brain The Wiring of the Adolescent Brain

We once believed that at an early age our brains were fully formed, but with modern scanning we now know that the prefrontal cortex (the part of the brain responsible for organization, emotion, impulse control judgment and decision making) does not fully mature until the mid 20’s.

Permission to Snoop  It is not spying or invading your child’s privacy if you monitor his/her internet activity.  This is different than searching the bedroom for a private diary.  What is posted for 700 million people to see is not private. Your child’s internet postings are his/her way of communicating who he/she wants the world to think he/she is. You need to be part of that audience

Internet Tips  The computer in a central location, screen visible.  Have limits on usage.  Know where your child is going and who they are making friends with.  Check name usage.  Check browser history.  Have family acceptable usage policy that is signed and include stated consequences when violated. nt.htm nt.htm
