Technology All of Firebrand’s racing titles are developed using our proprietary cross- platform Octane game engine, now in it’s fifth generation. With superior performance and complex vehicle physics capabilities it allows us to develop unparalleled gaming experiences for all of today’s and tomorrow’s major gaming platforms.
Technology Summary The Octane 5 engine is the latest iteration of Firebrand Games’ proprietary engine. Octane 5 supports Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, as well as Windows PC, Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo Wii U, PlayStation Vita, Android and Apple iOS platforms. Octane is built around a solid, structured cross platform interface that game programmers target, fulfilled by platform specific backends yielding maximum performance per platform. Octane game code automatically works on all supported platforms. Middleware dependency is kept at a bare minimum (Lua, Zlib and Ogg- Vorbis) with additional needs evaluated on a per project basis providing flexibility as well as low memory and performance overheads, compared to other technologies. Firebrand uses Autodesk Maya as the main content creation tool. Artists and designers work in a custom set of tools within the Maya framework to create optimized and high fidelity cross-platform compatible assets and gameplay.
