Presentation transcript:

 Describe in a few short sentences what this natural disaster is.  Earthquake- a earthquake is caused by tectonic plates pushing and pulling apart from each other. Earthquakes cause lots of destruction, and there are lots of them.  Tsunami- tsunamis are caused by underwater earthquakes, tsunamis are very dangerous and can flood cities.

 Describe why this happens. You may make an additional slide to describe how this happens in your own words. You may also use pictures.  The reason earthquakes happen is that when the tectonic plates bump each other it makes massive vibrations.  A tsunami is caused by underwater earthquakes.

 1.tsunami- Tangshan, China ,000 died  2. earthquake- Taiwan ,800 died  3. Aleppo, Syria ,00 died

 Describe why certain areas are more prone (likely) to be hit by this natural disaster.  Michigan is in the middle of a plate. Most earthquakes happen on the edge of the plates which is where they bump to create earthquakes.

 Describe a big example in detail. Feel free to use pictures.  Indonesia, sir lanka, India and Thailand 2004  They say it was the deadliest tsunami. It happened in the Indian ocean it was made by an extremely large underwater earthquake in the northwest coast of an Indonesian island. Sadly it killed more than 200,000 people. It also hit more than 10 countries in southern Asia and eastern Africa.  the tsunami was so bad that a year after the tsunami, Thailand's people were still recovering. They are now making a great deal about education and training on hospitality for this part of the region.

 How is the area looking now?  How or what are they doing to prepare/prevent this from happening again?  The tsunami was so bad that a year after the tsunami. Thailand's people were still recovering. They are now making a big deal about education and training on hospitality for this part of the region.

 Describe ways we can prepare and prevent this from happening again.  People should get to higher ground during a tsunami.  A way to a earthquake is to have an emergency plan, education and GET OUT OF TALL BUILDINGS!!!!!!  A way we can predict a tsunami is to use a seismographer to record the patterns of a scorch wave, (often caused by a underwater earthquake). Warn the people for a earthquake or tsunami.

 Provide any additional information. THIS IS REQUIRED!  The deadliest tsunami in history happened in the Indian ocean in 2004, over 200,000 people died.  Around 10,000 people die every year from earthquakes.  One of the deadliest earthquakes in history is, on january, a earthquake hit Shansi, china and 830,000 people died because of that earthquake.
