Certifications Certified Feeding Assistant CPR / FA Concussion Recognition Nurse Aide Pharmacy Technician First Responder EMT Basic Home Health Aide Patient Care Technician EKG Technician Phlebotomy Coming next year: Medical Billing and Coding Patient Care Technician Fifty-one health science programs approved by the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services as nurse-aide training sites provided the state certification for 881 students interested in nursing careers. Certification as a nurse aide is the first step in the nursing career ladder and provides added weight for admission to some two ‑ year college nursing programs.

September 15 – Today’s Class online curriculum training for teachers in the upstate. (25 in attendance) September 16 - Today’s Class online curriculum training for teachers in the midlands area. (50 in attendance) September 17 - Today’s Class online curriculum training for teachers in the lowcountry area. (20 in attendance) October 4 & 5 – Hands on Body Systems anatomy training cancelled due to flooding and will be rescheduled again for the spring. December 4 - Today’s Class online curriculum training for teachers will be offered in our Health Science Educators Conference in Myrtle Beach. December 3-5 – Health Science Educators ACTE Professional Development Conference offering sessions on new certifications in Health Science, SLO’s, National Board Certification etc…

Professional Development SC ACTE - Health Science Educators Conference-Myrtle Beach Thursday - Saturday This year -December 3-5, 2015 Up to 10 travel grants: $ offered to assist with attendance Applications ed to teachers and posted on the Health Science link at our HOSA website. Upcoming Travel grant opportunities will be available for: NCHSE conference next October PLTW conference in March - Indianapolis HOSA National Leadership Conference in June – Nashville Requirements for receiving grants, fulfill presentation opportunities, or event management/assistance at the National HOSA conference, as specified in the travel grant applications. Beginning this year, teachers /schools that do not follow through with obligations will not be able to apply again for a travel scholarship for a period of up to 3 years.
