IMPACT SAMR Cover Sheet Task OverviewLearning Objective(s)Suggested Technology The student will explain the difference between the characteristics of problems that use the Law of Cosines and the Law of Sines from the prior lesson using Tellagami and Blackboard. The student will differentiate between the characteristics of Law of Sines and Law of Cosines Tellagami iPad camera, blackboard The student will work the Law of Cosine problems from the worksheet, then create a real world application problem, post the problem to blackboard and reply to the post of another student. The objective is to learn to use the Law of Cosines to work real-world application word problems. Make the law of Cosines personal by creating their own real world application word problem. After working the problems using paper and pencil, the student will rework the same problems using a Law of Cosines calculator. The objective is to learn to use the Law of Cosines to work real-world application word problems. Work sheet In this activity, the student will work the Law of cosine problems in Math XL for School and record your answers on the site. Law of Cosines using Math XL for School. 1.You will log onto your MathXL for School site at Click on the homework on sec 5-6 Law of Cosines, 3.Using paper and pencil, work the homework problems and record your answers in the site. 4.If you need help in understanding the problems, don’t forget about “Help Me Solve This, View an Example, Video, Animation, Textbook, Calculator, and Ask My Instructor.” 5.This assignment’s grade will be recorded in the grade book of MathXLforSchool. In this activity, you will work the Law of cosine problems in Math XL for School and record your answers on the site. This task uses: Learning Objective(s): The objective is to learn to use the Law of Cosines to work real-world application word problems. S SUBSTITUTION Technology acts a direct substitute, with no functional improvement

Law of Cosines using a Law of Cosines Calculator 1.Using a search engine, go to law-of-cosines.php. law-of-cosines.php 2.Using the problems on the work sheet, input the information into the law of Cosines calculator to obtain the answer to the real world application problems. 3.After competing the work sheet, save the answers as yourname_lawofcosines. Load the document into blackboard, under the assignment Law of Cosines. After working the problems using paper and pencil, rework the same problems using a Law of Cosines calculator. This task uses: worksheet Learning Objective(s): The objective is to learn to use the Law of Cosines to work real-world application word problems. A AUGMENTATION Technology acts as a direct tool for substitution with some functional improvement.

Law of Cosines using a Graphical Calculator and Blackboard’s Discussion Features 1.You will work the assigned problems from the work sheet using your graphing calculator. 2.When you have finished working the problems, create a real world situation problem that would use the Law of Cosines. 3.Open up Blackboard for Calcasieu Parish School Board and select my blackboard site, “Sam Houston High-Suanne Jacobs” 4.Click on the tab for Advanced Math/Precalculus 5.Go to the section 5-6 The Law of Cosines 6.Click on your class discussion. Click on “+” to add a new entry and type “ your name” in the subject window. Type in the problem that you created, then click “POST”. 7.Choose a post by another student, work their problem and reply to their posted problem by supplying the answer to their problem. You will work the Law of Cosine problems from the worksheet, then create a real world application problem, post your problem to blackboard and reply to post of another student. This task uses: Learning Objective(s): The objective is to learn to use the Law of Cosines to work real-world application word problems. Make the law of Cosines personal by creating their own real world application word problem. M MODIFICATION Technology allows for significant task redesign.

Explaining the Law of Cosines. 1.You and your partner will use Tellagami to make a short video to explain the differences in problems that use the Law of Cosines and the Law of Sines. Tell the characteristics that need to be present to determine which law should be used. 2.This video will be very short, approximately a half of a minute. Therefore, you and your partner should determine what you wish to say and write a script covering what you need to say concerning the contrast between the Law of Cosine and Law of Sines problems. 3.Using an iPad, open the app for Telligami and read the information of how to use the app. Choose a character, an emotion, and a background for your video. Jazz it up with personalization that fits you. 4.Use the “back arrow” to get the screen you have chosen to use. Use the “record” button when you are ready to make your video. 5.After you have recorded your comments, click on “preview” to make sure that the video that you produced is what you wanted. When your video is what you wanted, “share” it and “save” it to the camera roll. 6.Go to Safari on the iPad, go to log onto blackboard, Jacobs’ class of Adv Math Precalculus, section 5-6, Tellagami Blog, click on the “+” to add a new entry, type your name and partner’s name in the subject line, click on “attachment” at the top, click on “library” at the bottom, find your video from the camera roll and click “use”. To post your “gami”, click “post”. 7.After all the videos have been posted, look at the videos from your classmates and comment on how they did. You will explain the difference between the characteristics of problems that use the Law of Cosines and the Law of Sines in the prior lesson using Tellagami and Blackboard. This task uses: Tellagami iPad camera, blackboard Learning Objective(s): To differentiate between the characteristics of Law of Sines and Law of Cosines R REDEFINITION Technology allows for the creation of new tasks that were previously not conceivable.
