Presentation transcript:

Over time religions have fractured into hundreds of different sects. The initial unity and spirit of the Teacher is lost.

There is only one Baha’i Faith, although there have been attempts to divide it. In order to maintain its unity, Baha’is do not participate in partisan politics or other divisive activities.

Wars and disputes erupt between different sects and religions.

Wars and disputes erupt between different sects and religions. Jews vs JewsJews vs ChristiansJews vs Muslims Christians vs ChristiansChristians vs JewsChristians vs Muslims Muslims vs MuslimsMuslims vs JewsMuslims vs Christians Baha’is refuse to engage in armed or other conflicts.

These religious sects develop superstitions and wildly opposing views concerning belief.

Baha’u’llah wrote many kinds of scripture which he often explained directly. Individuals will always understand ideas a little differently, but Baha’is study individually by reading the Baha’is Writings, and there are special classes locally and regionally for studying the Writings.

As science develops, religions resist it since they have integrated old science into their religious theology, and they feel that the very existence of new science threatens their beliefs.

Science is the arbiter of what is real and what is not real in the physical universe. Religion must be in harmony with science, not contradict it.

Some religious leaders become corrupt or use their sects for their own aggrandizement.

Baha’i affairs are guided by elected and appointed local, regional, and international groups. There is no clergy.

Scripture is often symbolic, but some sects believe that their holy texts are completely literal.

Baha’u’llah has written clearly and specifically in his many scriptural texts. Many symbolic elements in the Baha’i Writings are explicitly explained.
