-How to Conduct a Tasting Session- The purpose of a tasting session is to have each boy try 1 or 2 kernels of each flavor. Once everyone has tasted each flavor, have the boys vote on which popcorn they liked best! Tally the votes and determine which flavors were everyone’s favorites. Have fun with it! The day is Designed to stimulate Scout sales and encourage interaction with customers. Entire unit gathers on a Saturday morning. The entire unit goes to a house to learn some techniques for selling door to door and to gain some confidence. The Scouts, leaders and parents then divide and blanket the neighborhood to see who can make the most sales. Meet back at the starting place in a specified amount of time and give the prize away. Show & Sell/Show & Deliver – Setting up a display of your popcorn at a high traffic area is an easy way to increase your sale! (Popcorn is ordered in advance on consignment from the Council) – Combines the Show & Sell (Products ordered in advance) and Take Order (Going door-to-door). One Stop Selling! (Product is taken door-to-door and delivered on the spot) Take Order – The traditional way for Scouts to sell popcorn is going door-to-door in the community. Customers place their order on the take order form and it gets delivered after the sale. (Unit tabulates individual Scout sales into one Unit Order) Online Sales – Customers can support Scouts from across the country with prpopcornstore.com. Each Scout gets credit for what they sell. Online Sales Online selling allows Scouts to sell to faraway friends and family. 70% of every purchase goes to the Scout’s unit and council in his name. Why sell online? No deliveries! PRP ships the product directly to the consumer. s sent out each time an order ships so that the unit leader and Scout can track sales. It’s easy! Scouts register to sell with their unit leader. All online sales starting 9/18 through 10/26 are used to determine your prize level. Customer able to choose 1, 2 or 3 flavors from 12 to fill their tin. Also have the ability to buy Military Donations from $10-$100.

Bonus Incentives Popcorn Sale Patches Super Saturday Prize Pecatonica River Popcorn $2,500 Winners Circle Grandfathered Scholarship Program Any Scout who sells at least one item will receive a popcorn sale patch. Every unit receives a LED Sky Rocket to help rocket their sales. Use the rocket to generate excitement at the kick off. Use the rocket in whatever way helps the unit to get excited about the sale. Any Scout that has qualified for the scholarship program prior to 2015 (list supplied to PRP by council) will receive 7% of their total sales. Any Scout reaching the $2,500 level will receive their choice of prize from the Pecatonica River Popcorn Winners Circle.

Are you Squared Up?

How do you Use Square Up? How do you Use Square Up? The actual square device is free, but there is a 2.75% fee for swiped transactions and a 3.5% + 15¢ for keyed-in transactions. After swiping a credit card, users will have to sign using the touch screen on the mobile phone. Users can chose whether to enter an address after they have made a purchase to receive an electronic receipt instantly to their . Square does not collect or share any card holders information to ensure customers privacy.

GCC Prizes

PRIZES All prize forms must be entered into the GCC/Keller marketing website or received at the Council Service Center no later than October 26, No additional or late prize orders will be accepted after December 4, 2015 No prizes will be released to a Unit until the Council receives a worksheet that contains the following information: name of each Scout selling popcorn, amount of product sold by each Scout and total sales dollars per Scout. All Scouters who sell popcorn will receive a patch which must be ordered from GCC/Keller marketing.. All Cub Scouts who sell at least $75 of product will receive their choice of a prize according to the sales level attained. Combining of sales with other Scouts is not permitted.

GCC Prizes PRIZES All Boy Scouts who sell popcorn will earn an additional amount of 3% of their total sales (unless the Troop notifies the Council office that they want to participate in the prize program). The money will be issued in a “lump sum” to the Unit and placed into the Unit’s account at the Council Service Center. Prizes will be based on total dollars sold. Adult leaders are NOT eligible for prizes.

Picking Up Popcorn Pickup Guidelines Bring enough vehicles to carry your entire order in one trip. Bring order documents and verify your order as it's loaded. Bring someone to help you count your order as it's loaded. Vehicle Guidelines Mid-size car = 20 cases Jeep = 40 cases Mini-van = 60 cases Suburban/Explorer = 70 cases Pickup Truck = 90 cases

Final Thoughts When picking up the Unit popcorn order it must be matched against the Unit Pick Ticket that comes from Council and is received at the pickup site....NOT the paperwork that was used by the Unit Popcorn Chair to place the order. Units can order their popcorn on-line (also available for Show and Sell) and save time by not calling their orders in to their District Chairs. Instructions are available on the Council website and on the Pecatonica website for all Units who are interested in using this method to place their orders. The top seller within each Unit will be entered in a drawing for an IPad Mini. One winner per District, drawing to be held on Monday, November 2 nd. Winners to be pulled from the names turned in from each Unit on the Unit Master Summary (or the printout from the Pecatonica website). The top three sellers within each District will receive the following recognition mailed to them by December 31, 2015: First Place →→ $100 Scout Shop gift certificate and a certificate of achievement. Second Place →→ $75 Scout Shop gift certificate and a certificate of achievement. Third Place →→ $50 Scout Shop gift certificate and a certificate of achievement.
