5 OSAP = Ontario Student Assistance Program OSAP is a needs-based program designed to provide financial assistance to students with limited financial resources to help them attend postsecondary studies.

Visit the Disabilities Services Office at your postsecondary school. Speak with an advisor about all required documentation and other information.

15 Can students get OSAP for attending any school? OSAP is available for allpublicly-funded Ontario universities and colleges, as well as many private schools. Check online for a list of all approved schools.

23 When is the last day to apply? 60 days before the end of your study period. Apply as soon as you are accepted. Late applications can cause delays and late fees at your school. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE!

24 How can students check their OSAP account status? Log into you OSAP account atontario.ca/OSAP

25 When does the money arrive? OSAP is issued in two instalments – one at the start of the first semester and one at the start of the second semester. Make sure your application is complete! Make sure you submit your signature pages!

26 How often do students apply for OSAP? Students must apply for OSAPand/or 30% Off every year

27 Is there an OSAP application Fee? No! …but expect other postsecondary application costs and fees.

32 What’s an FAO? The FAO is your Financial Aid Office. Your FAO is your first point of contact for any OSAP or money issues.

33 Where is your FAO? FAOs are at all colleges and universities. FAOs can access all students’ OSAP accounts. Visit a local FAO for help with OSAP at any college or university.

34 If you have a problem and you can’t solve it, check out your FAO to resolve it.

36 How much will a student owe when they graduate? Ontario students’ debt is capped each year. For the 2016/17 year, for example, student debt it is capped at $7,500 for a two-term academic year. Students are issued an Ontario Student Opportunity Grant (OSOG) for any amount of loan received over $7,500. You are automatically considered for OSOG when you apply for OSAP.

38 What if they need help paying the loans back? The Repayment Assistance Plan (RAP) is available. No more than 20% of a student’s income goes toward repayment of loan under RAP.
