Saskatchewan Secondary Level Credit Requirements Grade 12- Minimum 24 credits (5 of which must be at the 30 level) Compulsory courses are: English Language Arts A30 and English Language Arts B30 Social Studies 30 or Native Studies 30 or History 30 a Science 30 (or 20) a Social Science 30 (or 20) a minimum of 2 credits in Arts Education and/or Practical and Applied Arts (10/20/30 level) It is your responsibility to make sure you have all the credits you require to graduate and to be admitted to the post secondary program you are interested in. Scholarship Information Scholarship: Money given to a student on the basis of academic achievement. Some scholarships may also include consideration of school and community activities, qualities of leadership or other defined criteria. Bursary: A monetary award made on the basis of a combination of financial need and academic achievement. Some bursaries may also include consideration of school and community activities, qualities of leadership or some other specifications. Some bursaries may require a commitment of completion of course related duties. Prizes, Medals: Awards made in recognition of specific accomplishments or superior achievement. These prizes and medals may also include money.

A BRONZE medal is awarded to the student who achieves the highest average upon graduation from a secondary school. The average includes all grade 11 and grade 12 courses as listed on the student’s official Transcript of Grades issued by the ministry of education. The average cannot be anticipated; it must be calculated based on final results after provincial examinations, where the ministry of education requires final exams. Equitable access for the entire student population is an important aspect of the medal’s value. Regardless of the stream or the subjects chosen, all students are eligible for consideration upon graduation. The Governor General’s Award

General Proficiency Awards 500 awards of $400 are awarded to students across Saskatchewan who have the highest level of achievement in their school division. In order to receive a General Proficiency Award, students must: be permanent residents of Saskatchewan. be enrolled in and be regularly attending a provincially funded high school. complete the requirements for Grade 12 during the current school year. gain a minimum of six course credits within the academic year.

Martin Scholarships 2016 Martin Collegiate Volunteer Scholarship The Rosemont/Mount Royal Community Association is awarding this scholarship to a graduate who has shown exceptional volunteer efforts both at Martin and in the community. Proof of registration at a Post-Secondary Institution is required.

References are IMPORTANT! Many scholarship applications ask for references. It is polite and respectful ask a person to be your reference and to give them at least two weeks notice before the reference letter is required. A reference letter outline will ask about your achievements. Be specific: list all details, years, proper names of awards, teams and organizations, educational and personal goals, and other pertinent information. As well it will ask you about your interests and aspirations. There are copies at the door for you to fill out and supply to your reference. References given through school require a completed reference letter outline well in advance or the deadline so teachers can provide information on all aspects of your contributions.

Come see us at the guidance office for a list of sites that are useful for identifying scholarship opportunities. Searching for scholarships is a time consuming job. There are sites where you submit information about yourself and the database s you possible scholarships that match your input. One such site is: In preparation for applying for scholarships please create a resume showing your academic achievements, a generic cover letter introducing yourself and why you qualify for a scholarship, a professional sounding address for all correspondence and several references.
