Cold storage arrangements Secure / controlled access Location of fridge Fridge of appropriate type and size Protected power supply

Systems and maintenance Ordering systems and deliveries Limit stockholding and rotate stock Expiry date checks In-house e.g. defrosting, cleaning External servicing ?Insurance

Monitoring Temperature - check and record every working day 4 Rs ReadRecordRe-setReact Check records are complete and action taken if needed

Training Understand the need for cold storage Know how to read and re-set thermometers Know what to do if temperature out of range or other problem e.g. power cut

If something goes wrong…. Don’t panic or assume vaccines are no longer fit for use Quarantine If possible move to alternative fridge but DO NOT USE yet Take specialist advice

Responsibilities and accountability Who is responsible for doing what e.g. daily temperature monitoring? (Deputies, holiday coverage) Who is ultimately accountable?
