Local and international transport A presentation by Svenja

Local transport Kinds of local transportation are for example trains, planes, buses and ships. There are motorways everywhere in Germany. The local transportation routes are for connecting the places and by connecting the villages these streets also connect the people. We've got a small airfield in Nüttermoor. Most planes from there fly to the East Frisian Islands and sightseeing flights. But they also fly business people from the local shipping companies and the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg.

International transport The most used international transportation means are lorries, planes, ships and trains. Emden and Leer have got industrial harbours, the cargo ships carry cars, wood and other goods.

Planes The planes fly to many countries all over the world. The airport in Bremen is the nearest international airport to Leer.

Ships Leer is the 2nd largest place of shipping companies in Germany. Their ships transport goods all around the world. In Papenburg near Leer there is a cruise shipyard which is named Meyer-Werft. They build very big cruise liners. In the next picture you can see a ship which was built for the Disney Shipping Company in America.

Trains In Leer there is a train station which is on the railway track from the north to the south but also from the Netherlands to the eastern parts of Germany. The biggest railway company in Germany is “DB (Deutsche Bahn)’’ but there are also many small companies. The trains transport persons and goods, for example cars.
