IBM System Storage © 2012 IBM Corporation Notes 1.For data freeze, TPC-R two-site (licensed version) now supports both HyperSwap for primary disk subsystem failures. 2.GDPS/PPRC HyperSwap Manager - FlashCopy before Resynch In GDPS, a freeze creates a consistent set of secondary volumes. However, if a resynch is started, the secondary volumes will contain inconsistent data until the resynch is complete. As a result, during this window, they cannot be used for recovery purposes should there be a failure in the primary site. To keep a set of consistent volumes until the resynch is completed, the GDPS function known as FlashCopy before Resynch is used. Before resynchronization starts, a FlashCopy is taken of all suspended secondary volumes that have a FlashCopy device defined in the configuration file (GEOPARM). After the FlashCopy commands are completed, the resynch commands are executed. As soon as the mirroring status is “OK” after the resynch, the FlashCopy flag will be removed in the next DASD query, and the FCWITHDRAW command will be executed to remove the relationship between the source and target volumes.
