Graduation Requirements - Testing The State of Texas requires all students in the class of 2016 to score a Level II satisfactory on Algebra I, Biology, English I and II, and US History to graduate from high school. If you have any questions see your counselor or Ms. Novosad in Room 434. The next testing opportunity will be at the end of this month here at Elkins. Look for signs around the school for the exact schedule.

What is TSI & Why is it Needed? The state of Texas spends $200 million a year re-teaching students that are not college ready when they go to college ( 18 seconds) ( 2 minutes – Math) If you are an incoming college student in Texas, you are required to take the TSI Assessment — unless you are already exempt — to determine your readiness for college-level work. Based on how you perform, you may either be enrolled in a college-level course that matches your skill level or be placed in the appropriate developmental course or intervention to improve your skills and prepare you for success in college-level courses.

TSI Exempt and do not have to take test if… You are exempt from the TSI if you meet one of the following: SAT scores minimum qualifying score of 1070 composite - with 500 Critical Reading and 500 Math. Scores must be within the past 5 years ACT scores minimum qualifying score of 23 composite, with 19 English and 19 Math. Scores must be within the past 5 years

How and Where to take the TSI Test Attention: Students going to WCJC or HCC for TSI Testing, Must complete the 1.Appropriate college ( orwww.applytexas.org 1.WCJC $ registration/ registration/ 2.HCC $ And, pre-assessment through the school you are testing at BEFORE sending them to test! See websites above with info. Neither site is really set up for this and usually requires the student to do these two items in advance of scheduling an appointment to test. Blinn College requires a specific test score reporting method. Stop by the CCR Center for instructions.

Bacterial Meningitis Shot The Bacterial Meningitis shot is not OPTIONAL ( 3.5 minutes) You have to get to register for class You have to get to attend new student conference You will not receive your scholarships if you are not enrolled in college. If you have insurance then your shot will be paid for. If you do not have insurance then I will help you find an inexpensive or free option.
