What is the neurodevelopmental approach to unlocking learning?  Discovering the underlying causes for learning struggles.  Discovering the underlying causes for developmental delays.  Stimulating the brain in such a way to encourage development.  Encouraging development and learning rather than accommodating for struggles and challenges.

Student Assessment via Skype ( Qualifies as a Non-Test Assessment for Washington State home schoolers.) – Academics and Neurodevelopmental. Individualized Neurodevelopmental Plan to fulfill at home with support. Three way conference with Learning Specialist, Brain Trainer and Parents to discuss results and recommendations.

1.A list a activities for students to do with parents at home and with the Brain Trainer during Brain Training. 2. We train you to do these activities with your child directly and during observation of Brain Training sessions. 3. We can adjust this INP throughout the 6 month process between assessments as necessary. 4. This plan is designed by the Learning Specialist, however, our team – the parent, Brain Trainer and Learning Specialist communicate to optimize the plan for the student. 5. The INP tells you how many days to do these activities, how many times to do them each day (Frequency), and how many minutes or repetitions (Duration) each time. 6. Each activity should be done with full focus (Intensity).

Laura Barnes Brain Trainer Brain Training provides regular online sessions with the student (usually minute sessions a week) and support for the parents.

Menu Coach – Often our students benefit from a change in diet. There could be food allergies that affect how a person learns. Laura provides menus, recipes, shopping lists and on call support for our families.

For instance: Activities that develop long-term memory, by establishing a one side dominance - patching/plugging subdominant eye/ear training the brain to work with the dominant side. Activities that develop short-term memory / processing / focus – digit spans and a variety of similar activities. Activities that normalize out of–control sensory responses – stimulating those. Brain Training is usually done 5 days a week at home supplemented by two – 30 minute sessions with the Brain Trainer.

GED Prep GED Prep – Laura guides the student in taking the pre-tests, studying and preparing for the GED.
