Butterfly Meadows Did you know Nestlé UK create and maintain Butterfly Meadows? ¾ of butterfly species have declined over the last 3 decades, and 5 species have become extinct - Why? Traditional methods are used less, habitats for butterflies are changing and farming is becoming more intensive to keep up with demand. - So? Nestlé recognise that Butterflies represent a barometer for nature’s health and biodiversity Nestlé have committed to produce 80 acres of Butterfly Meadows

Corporate Responsibility Large companies, like Nestlé UK, must continually prove they are conducting their business in a way that promotes and encourages sustainability. What sort of things do you think they must consider? Biodiversity Recycling Raw Materials Emissions Human rights Responsible sourcing Climate change Packaging Wastage in production Deforestation Big companies have a big part to play. But so do we!

So what’s YOUR Challenge? Your Sustainability Journey What small change could you make in your daily routine to reduce your impact on the environment? Phase 1 Team mind-mapping Phase 2 Individual submissions

The Prize The Challenge - Your Sustainability Journey £50 worth of Amazon vouchers Nestlé experience at their Butterfly Meadows for you and your class (with a lovely lunch thrown in!)

In teams, mind-map a typical day and think about the things that you use on a daily basis. Consider the following: 1.Cosmetics and toiletries 2.Food consumed 3.Electrical appliances 4.Energy your home/school requires 5.Transportation Phase 1 Team mind-mapping Tip Think ‘around the clock’

Now think of that one small change that can be made, specific to YOU and your lifestyle. Think realistic, achievable, and SUSTAINABLE (ie would you be able to keep the change up long term!) Think outside the box; MyKindaCrowd are looking for creative reasons and solutions. We could all turn our bedroom light off when we aren’t in the room, but think more deeply into your own daily routine. Phase 2 Individual Submissions Tip Make it personal

To include in your submissions: What is your one small change? Why is it relevant to YOU? How many times a day might you adopt this change? How will making this change affect your day to day life? Compromises vs benefits. How will making this change be positive for the environment? Phase 2 Individual Submissions Tip Catch our eye! Include: Name Age School Date

Congratulations on your submissions, and we wish you the best of luck! Check out the website and sign up for free to be introduced to loads of great companies, and for more information on the Nestlé Challenge.
