Presentation transcript:

Wednesday, April 13, 2016 You will need your journal. Read quietly: What would you do if you were in a strange city and found yourself in a riot? According to Popular Mechanics magazine, you should take the following steps if possible: 1.Stay indoors and listen to the radio or TV. 2.Determine the best route to the airport. 3.Exit away from guns or mobs. 4.Leave as a group. 5.Do not run. 6.Drive on back streets. Everyone is a survival expert on something. Think of a situation that you be able to teach others how to survive.

Wednesday, April 13, 2016 Think of a situation you would be an expert at surviving. It could be complex or a bit more simple. Some examples: *Football season * your little sister's slumber party * the zombie apocalypse *6 th grade * a Rangers game * English class (math, history, etc.) * Saturday chores * an argument with your best friend * having the flu (a bad cold, strep throat, etc.) * Mrs. Meinke's class * Your favorite video game * Spring Break (summer break, Christmas break) * sharing a room with your little brother * babysitting a sibling, cousin, neighbor, etc. In your journal, finish the sentence starter: How to Survive ________________. Begin listing your “How-To” instructions, then turn it into a how-to text. Use detail, give reasons, and explain your thinking to the reader.

How to survive a Day at Six Flags 1.Decide what day and time you want to go. 2.Wear comfortable clothes. Bring a water bottle and a little bag with gum, snacks, etc. 3.Eat before you go to the park. The food is really expensive and not very healthy. 4.When getting to the park, choose the car line that is the shortest. If you have a season pass, have it out and ready to show. 5.Choose which route you will take through the park (Mexico section, kids section or USA) 6.If there is a long line at a ride you really want to go on, try to come back during lunch time or in the evening after the families have gone home

How to survive a Day at Six Flags I’m leaving room (3-4 lines) for my intro!! The first thing you should do to survive a day at Six Flags is decide what day and time you want to go. Saturdays and Sundays are always busy. In particular, the park is very busy in the daytime, when all the families with small children tend to go. If you have a day off during the week, or are able to go in the evening, you should try to go at that time. You will do a lot of walking at Six Flags, and you will be outside most of the day, so it is vital that you dress comfortably. Depending on the weather, I like to wear tennis shoes and either shorts or jeans with a T-shirt. Tying a hoodie around your waist will help if the temperature drops.
