Final Project: Autumn Scene Silhouette “Everyday is Halloween” by Michael Prosper

“Everyday is Halloween” by Michael Prosper Criteria One background color showing a FULL value scale. Background shows gradation, blending. The moon is the lightest value in the background. Three, or more, objects as silhouettes in the foreground. Balanced composition Emphasis, Contrast, and Unity are shown. Craftsmanship/neatness Effort and creativity Signature written in white paint in the bottom right corner. Behavior, use of class time, and use of materials.

Background 12”x18” white oak tag paper. Write your name on the back. LIGHTLY sketch in where you want your moon. LIGHTLY sketch in 4 sections following the contour of the moon.

Background continued Choose paint color plus white and black. Paint moon white FIRST (1). Slowly add your hue to the white as you paint the OUTSIDE of the moon next (2). Add more white to the next section (3) This section is your hue ONLY (4). Next you will add a little black (5). The last section is black only (6). TIP: You want to show a gradated value scale. Autumn Silhouettes You will select/create 3, or more, images that go with the autumn theme. Ideas:  Nature: Trees, plants, pumpkins, flowers, hills, land, rocks, etc.  Animals: cats, wolves, birds, deer, horses, squirrels, etc.  Objects: house, fence, graveyard, etc.  Scary: witches, zombies, bats, jack o lanterns, etc. You can sketch/trace images onto black construction paper. Images will be cut out using scissors and exact-o blades. Arrange images onto painted background to create the best composition. Glue images down onto background.
