6 Florida’s State Personnel Development Grant To build capacity in secondary schools to implement evidence-based practices: Check & Connect Strategic Instruction Model (SIM)

7 What is Check & Connect? A comprehensive student engagement intervention A trained mentor continuously checks on students, assessing their engagement with school and learning through close monitoring of their attendance, behavior, and grades; and connects with students, offering individualized intervention in partnership with school personnel, families, and community service providers.

8 What is the Strategic Instruction Model? A set of evidence-based tools that target the full range of skills students need to succeed in school and beyond

9 Florida’s State Personnel Development Grant: Provides technical assistance and professional development to targeted school districts across Florida Participating Middle and High Schools receive the information, materials and coaching necessary to implement Each school develops a plan to maintain the efforts after the SPDG funding has ended.
