Open information standards enable vendors, integrators and end-users to focus on higher value added activities that are specific to their organization. Open information standards enable an enterprise to own its own information rather than having it locked up in proprietary systems and formats. Open information standards are critical enablers for information models that need to span multiple sites and multiple enterprises. Open information standards stimulate the development and deployment of new classes of value added applications leveraging the open information.
