Third Call for Proposals FAQ session 25 April 2016 Thank you for joining the Q&A session. The presentation will begin at 2pm UK time/4pm IL time (or shortly after). Most frequently asked question… When is the deadline? 12 May 2016 No later than 22:00 GMT No exceptions or late submissions

How do I apply? Complete one application online for the joint project Use Guidance notes and instructions on application form

Scope of the Call The programme is inclusive. Projects addressing a wide range of topics relevant to regenerative medicine are welcome. Basic research translational The Call is restricted to UK-Israel collaborative projects

Additional Focus Cardiovascular diseases Type-1 diabetes Neurodegenerative conditions Arthritis and other musculoskeletal disorders

Available Funding £400,000 over 3 years direct costs can include up to 10% overheads

How will the money be divided? Based on the needs of the project itself, does not need to be split equally. BIRAX will transfer monies directly to both institutions through their respective research authorities.

Outputs Distinct new research programme The scheme is not to simply supplement ongoing research. Nor to simply “top up” funding shortages. However, applications to build upon / expanding a pilot collaboration will be considered

Must applicants be from academic institutions? Proposals are welcome from PIs holding a position in academic institutions, research hospitals and research institutions. Relevant industrial partners can be included as part of the team but cannot receive funding.

Who can be the PI? PIs must be employed by an official, recognised university in the UK or Israel (or university-affiliated institute) Post docs? If authorised by the institution Emeritus Professors? If authorised by the institution The PIs need to be staff members of a UK and Israeli institutions.

What can be funded? Human Resources (not PI salaries or additions to PI salaries) directly working on project. ie Post-Doc & PhDs Travel costs. (not expected to be the main costs) Conference Participation – to be listed in the application. Consumables Equipment (justifiable) Licenses and Fees Indirect costs up to 10%

Can I submit more than one application? Each principal investigator may submit only one application. Multiple applications from institutions are acceptable.

Can we have a 3 rd partner? Funding will not be available for a third partner but additional collaboration, eg with another country, can be mentioned.

Reporting Duties Yearly financial and narrative reports by both institutions are required Payments are subject to satisfactory progress and reporting
