CATHOLIC PRAYERS Prayers For Each Month of the School Year

OUR PRAYER FOR POPE FRANCIS – SOUL OF CHRIST  Jesus, may all that is you flow into me. May your body and blood by my food and drink.  May your passion and death by my strength and life.  Jesus, with you by my side enough has been given.  May the shelter I seek be the shadow of your cross.  Let me not run from the love which you offer, but hold me safe from the forces of evil. On each of my dyings shed your light and your love.  Keep calling to me until the day comes, when with your saints, I may praise you forever. Amen.

CONFIRMATION PRAYER  My Lord God, some days I am not sure of where I am going. Often, I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end.  Nor do I really know myself, but I come to You with a sincere desire to know your ways, to experience your love for me and to walk with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.  Be with me on this journey and keep alive my desire to please you.  May I have an open mind and a willing heart, that I may grow in the knowledge of the Good News you have for me.  May the days ahead of me be peaceful, that I may prepare myself to receive your Holy Spirit on the day of my Confirmation. Amen.

SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER THE NICENE CREED  I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.  I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.  I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of Life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.  I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

OCTOBER – HAIL MARY

NOVEMBER – OUR FATHER

DECEMBER – GLORY BE  Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.  As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.  Amen.

JANUARY – ACT OF CONTRITION My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart. In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good, I have sinned against you whom I should love above all things. I firmly intend, with your help, to do penance, to sin no more, and to avoid whatever leads me to sin. Amen.

FEBRUARY & MARCH – PRAYER OF ST. FRANCIS Lord, make me an instrument of peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love Where there is injury, pardon Where there is doubt, faith Where there is despair, hope Where there is darkness, light Where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, Grant that I may not so much seek To be consoled, as to console, to be understood as to understand and to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive It is in pardoning that we are pardoned It is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

APRIL – ANGEL OF GOD  Angel of God, my guardian dear,  To whom God’s love, entrusts me here;  Ever this day be at my side,  To light and guard, to rule and guide.

MAY – THE MEMORARE

ST. MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL Saint Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
