Which Automation Tool Do I Use? ​ Start with Process Builder, esp. for business processes that can be simplified into if/then statements. Process Builder includes almost all* the functionality that’s available in workflow rules, and more. ​ A single process can do what it would normally take multiple workflow rules to do. ​ *Use Workflow Rule if you need to send outbound messages without code ​ Use Visual Workflow if the process is too complicated for Process Builder or requires more advanced functionality

​ Business Use Case: ​ When an opportunity is marked closed won, Universal Containers would like to post this to the Sales News chatter group, mark the opportunity's closed date to today’s, update the Last Opportunity Closed Won field on the opportunity’s account record and submit the opportunity to Finance for approval before the transaction is turned into a sale. ​ Solution: Create a custom text field on the Account object to capture the Last Opportunity Closed Won Create a Sales News chatter group Create an opportunity approval process for Finance approval Create a process using process builder

​ Business Use Case: ​ Customer service reps at Universal Containers may have cases in which there is a parent case and several child cases. If a parent case is closed, all related child cases should also be closed. A chatter post should be added to the parent case indicating its closure. 3 days after the case's close date, assign a follow up task for the case owner to follow up with the customer. Additionally, when a case is updated, update the Last Case Update field on the account. ​ Solution: Create a custom checkbox field on the Case object to capture if a case has children (Child Case) Create a custom date/time field on the Account object to capture the Last Case Update Enable chatter feed on the Cases object Create a process using process builder
