York Suburban High School Graduation Requirements ■ 23.8 Credits are required to earn your High School diploma. ■ In addition, you must meet all York Suburban and State requirements.

Graduation Requirements ▪ English – 4 Credits ■ Satisfactory completion of: ■ English I ■ English II ■ English III ■ English IV ■ Satisfactory completion of an acceptable research paper each year. The junior paper is the graduation project.

Graduation Requirements ▪ Social Sciences - 3 Credits ■ Satisfactory completion of: ■ American Cultures ■ Global Studies ■ United States Studies

Graduation Requirements ▪ Mathematics – 3 Credits ■ Satisfactory completion of three full year math courses. ■ College bound students should complete a minimum of Algebra I, Algebra II and Geometry.

Graduation Requirements ▪ Science – 3 Credits ▪ Satisfactory completion of: ▪ Biology ▪ 2 additional science credits ▪ College bound students should plan to complete a minimum of Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Graduation Requirements ■ Physical Education ■ Successful completion of four semesters of Physical Education. One semester must be taken each year. ■ Students must pass two semesters of 9/10 PE and two semesters of 11/12 PE to meet graduation requirements.

Graduation Requirements ■ Health ■ Successful completion of one semester of Health.

Graduation Requirements ■ Computer Applications – ½ credit ■ Students may test out of this course requirement either at the YSMS or at the YSHS or you may complete this requirement by taking the course in high school.

Graduation Requirements ■ Electives – 9 Credits ■ 2 Credits of Arts and Humanities. Courses in the World Language, Art, Music, Theater, Social Studies or English electives. ■ College bound students should plan to take a minimum of 2 levels of the same foreign language.

Graduation Requirements ■ Students must demonstrate proficiency on the English Literature, Algebra I and Biology Keystone exams.

Graduation Requirements ■ Students must successfully complete the requirements of the Graduation Project. It is the cumulative research process demonstrated by submission of an acceptable English III research project.

Promotion to Grade 10 ■ To become a sophomore, you must successfully complete a minimum of 5 credits which include English I, Physical Education and two credits from the following areas Math, Science and Social Studies and one additional credit.

Promotion to Grade 11 ■ To become a junior, students must have a minimum of 11 credits including English II, two years of Physical Education and at least four units of credit in the Math, Science and Social Science areas.

Senior Status ■ To be classified as a senior, students must have a minimum of 17.5 credits including English III, three Physical Education courses and at least six credits in Math, Science and Social Science.

Important Information ■ Achieve to the best of your ability at all times. Grades earned in 9 th, 10 th, 11 th, and 12 th will appear on your transcript. Your cumulative GPA is based upon all four years of grades earned.
