Visiting Fellowships Program A residential fellowship program that invites scholars working on subjects relevant to the field of international relations and area studies, or relevant themes that have a bearing on national, regional or international security. The program runs on two tracks: International Visiting Fellows program (for scholars in India and abroad) Asia and Africa Visiting Fellows program (excluding India)

Training Programs IDSA provides annual training programmes to civilian and military officers of the Government of India. Lectures by experts from IDSA and from outside form the core of these programmes.

Internship Program The IDSA Internship Program is for young students who have completed a first degree in any discipline relevant to the work of IDSA. Internships ideally last for a period of not less than six months and can be extended to a year on mutual agreement.

Policy Research IDSA research has played a pertinent role in feeding into public debates and government policies. The Institute has been a front runner in many policy debates, including: Nuclear Issues Higher Defence Management National Security India-US Nuclear Deal Water Security Cyber Security Tibet and India's Security Intelligence Reforms in India

IDSA Flagship Events The Asian Security Conference The Asian Security Conference (ASC) is a major calendar event of the Institute, organised in early spring each year. An important forum for debating issues relating to Asian Security, the ASC provides an opportunity for policy makers, scholars and security analysts, both from India and abroad, to share their views on the security challenges facing the continent. The South Asia Conference The yearly conference is an endeavour to bring together experts from all south Asian countries and discuss with them issues of contemporary relevance in an increasingly interdependent South Asia. The conferences engage policy makers, scholars and grassroots activists to dialogue on key concerns with the objective to achieve sustainable peace and security. IDSA has organised seven South Asia Conferences.

Library IDSA Library offers specialist information and library service in the field of Defence Studies and International Relations to its members and the wider Defence community. IDSA Website The IDSA website offers in depth insight into the working of the Institute with a user friendly interface. It uses social media tools and is a storehouse for information on India’s foreign policy and security. Geographical Information System (GIS) IDSA has a Geo-Spatial Database to maintain information and customized maps related to natural, political, economic, social & cultural aspects of countries around the world, especially South Asia. The institute has a database of around 1150 customized maps.

Impact According to the ‘Global Go-to Think Rank Report and Policy Advice’ study published by the University of Pennsylvania, IDSA is ranked 11th amongst top 45 think tanks in China, India, Japan and the Republic of Korea, 16th amongst best government affiliated Think Tanks and 23rd amongst best policy study/report produced. IDSA is 54th amongst top 100 think tanks worldwide (Non-US) and 105 amongst top 150 think tanks worldwide (US and Non-US).
