How to access the Databases Click on e-resources and select Databases A-Z
Databases Access Select on Campus if you are On Campus; Off Campus if you are at home or at work
Databases in Alphabetical Order : A-Z
Select one DB e.g. Science Direct
Click on advanced search
Type in your your keywords Type in your your keywords
Search results: read abstract or download article in pdf.
Use Boolean Logic search strategy AND, OR and NOT (most databases) AND: combine two or more keywords/terms. OR: connector to retrieve information in which any one of your keywords/terms appear. NOT: exclude certain information from your results.
Some Reasons for Retrieving Irrelevant Results Avoid sentence searching Spelling mistakes Missed synonyms, use : thesaurus.com, answers.com, synonyms-finder, Roget. Using “exact phrase” maybe too limiting
