The Situation “Despite an abundance of evidence of the benefits of maintaining a healthy weight and a physically active lifestyle, we continue to eat larger portion sizes than we need and remain less physically active than we should be. Sedentary adults in the United States eat an average of 500–800 calories more per day than needed to maintain weight” (ADA 2014)
My Population My current setting is my home. My action research participant is my husband who is trying to lose weight
1. My Questions 1. Why is it important not to be overweight? 2. What are some health issues associated with being overweight? 3.What are some healthy food choices and how do they help us to maintain a healthy weight? 4. What role does exercise play in losing and maintaining a healthy weight?
Background My husband David has become overweight during our 32 years of marriage. He has high blood pressure, high calestrarol, and lately he has become pre diabetic.
