PIER Emergency Management Mass Notification Features include : Quickly send notifications such as s, SMS text messages, text-to-voice messages, RSS feeds and Twitter alerts to staff members. PIER in use during Ike During Hurricane Ike, 18 regional PIER websites took over 7.7 million hits PIER provided continual support both from Houston and Washington State. Even without power, users could access PIER using a cellular modem in the back seat of a car. The following slides show actual Ike related PIER sites in use.
