Put the Brakes on Fatalities Day Drive as if your life depends on it.

What is “Put the Brakes on Fatalities Day?” zA national initiative that focuses on reducing the number of tragic fatalities on U.S. roadways by improving our roadways, our vehicles, and basic driver behavior. zA day that involves all individuals, public and private agencies/organizations in one common goal: achieving zero traffic fatalities. zPut the Brakes on Fatalities Day is held on October 10 each year.

How did it get started? zTwo engineers, Larry Emig, P.E. and Mel Larsen, P.E. created the Put the Brakes on Fatalities Day concept several years ago. zA coalition of national engineering, highway, and safety organizations was formed to promote and encourage this day of awareness. zThe coalition supports states, local municipalities, and individuals who are interested in adopting their own programs and events to support Put the Brakes on Fatalities Day.
