How different types of basketballs perform on different surfaces David Littlefield

Types Basketball typesSurface types Composite leather Genuine leather Asphalt Concrete Wood Sport court (plastic)

Composite leather Composite leather consistes of synthetic fiber materials The influence of the matrix formulation and different amounts of synthetic fiber on physical and mechanical performance of asbestos free fiber cement was evaluated. Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fiber was tested as reinforcement in combination with mechanical and kraft cellulose pulps. Silica-fume, metakaolin and fly ash were used as pozzolanic additions in proportions up to ∼ 14% by mass in combination with ordinary Portland cement and carbonatic filler. Bulk densities of composites varied from 1.5 to 1.7 g/cm3. Synthetic fiber contents higher than 2% by mass (from 4% to 5% by volume of the composite) were unable to promote any further improvement in the mechanical performance of the composites at the age of 28 days. Formulations with silica fume showed better strength performance for the composites after accelerated aging test. The toughness measurements of composites after exposition to soak and dry cycles also showed that silica fume seems to prevent cellulose fiber degradation. Synthetic leather is also made from mainly plastic. it is also made from polyester and polyurethane which is a form of polymers polymers are based on chains of carbon atoms alone or with oxygen, sulfur, or nitrogen

Genuine Leather Genuine leather is made out of animal hides like cow, alligator, some birds etc.

. Surfaces

Concrete Concrete is a very rugged material very rough and when basketball is played on it is morally designed towards composite leather because composite is much more durable compared to other materials. Concrete is mostly used in walls sidewalks and other building structures.

Asphalt Asphalt is similar to concrete except its much more rough its used on roads for traction and its mainly played outside a house on a drive way and mainly outdoors.

Wood Wood is the main surface you play on every basketball league plays on wood because it’s the best surface because of its smooth non rugged material however its only indoors but there’s many upsides to playing on wood like more traction if you fall you wont get scrapped up as severally.

Sport court Sport court is mainly plastic and can be found indoor and outdoor its smooth but not very much traction usually dirty outside and slippery but there are upsides to playing on this outside compared to concrete and asphalt but inside is dominated by wood in every form category.

Effects on genuine leather Genuine leather performs greatly on wood and sport court but it is ideal for wood because wood is smooth with no rugged conditions on it and it has a stick on the court so your feet don’t slide on the court.

Effects on composite leather Composite leather only has one upside to using compared to genuine and that’s that composite is much stronger and it can stand asphalt and concrete with out tearing and falling part but that’s mainly outside. Games are always played o wood with indoor (genuine) because it’s the best to use.
