The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organizations established to recognize outstanding high school and middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since their beginnings in 1921 and 1929.
So what is the “point”? The National Honor Society has four guiding principles: To create enthusiasm for scholarship To stimulate a desire to render service To promote leadership To develop character
NHS is a nationally recognized and respected organization. NHS will help you develop leadership skills that will help you in college and career NHS will provide you with opportunities to work with others to give back to the community NHS will provide you with the sorts of experiences that colleges and scholarship organizations look for in candidates
You will be given an application to NHS. Applications must be turned in to Mr. Vienna or Ms. Potocki no latter than FRIDAY, OCTOBER 23 RD. Applications will be reviewed, and we will announce the inductee’s next month. Previous member need to re-apply.
NHS Meetings will be held every other Tuesday, from 8:00 to 8:29pm. If you don’t have anything to work on, you go to formation at 8:14. If you are late, you go to formation at 8:14. We will have other meetings AS NEEDED. There will be an induction ceremony after school sometime next month.
