Fertilizer on Plants By: Student

Problem/Question Does fertilizer really help plants grow faster and greener?

Hypothesis I think that if I add Miracle Grow to the plant 1 time every 7 days then it will grow faster because the fertilizer will make the soil richer and more prosperous.

Variables Independent Variable: Miracle Grow fertilizer in the soil 1 time every 7 days. Dependent Variable: The height of the plant within 20 days. Controlled Variables: Regular soil from the planter in the back yard Control: same time of sunlight, same amount of water, and same time that I water it at

Materials labels marked Plant #1, Plant #2 500 ml beaker 2 small clay pots 500 ml of soil form back yard Miracle Grow fertilizer 2 zinnia seeds 1 ruler with centimeters

Procedure step1:gather all the supplies together which are- labels marked plant#1, plant#2, 500ml beaker, 2 small clay pots, 500 ml of soil from back yard, Miracle Grow fertilizer, 2 zinnia seeds, and 1 ruler with cm on it. step2:split the 500 ml of the soil into 2 different parts and put 250ml of soil into each pot. step3:plant one zinnia seed in each pot about 3cm down in the soil then cover the seed up. step4:decide which is plant#1 and plant#2 and put the labels in front of the pot. step5:water plant #1 with 300ml of regular water and pour on plant step6:mix 50ml of miracle grow fertilizer in with the water until fertilizer is dissolved in water and pour on plant #2. step7:repeat steps 5 and 6 every day for 20 days water plants as directed once a day. step8:Graph with a line graph the results for each and every day

Data and Observations Fertilized Plant.5 cm 1.5cm 3.5cm 5cm 7cm 9cm 10cm 12cm 14cm 16cm Unfertilized Plants 0cm,.5cm,1cm,2cm,4cm,6cm,8cm,9cm,10cm, 12cm

Evaluation of Data

Conclusion I think that my hypothesis is supported because the fertilized plants grew faster and taller. Probably if I didn’t add fertilizer to the plant it would’ve grew at the same time and as tall. I learned that the fertilizer helps plants grow faster.

More Experiments Does manufactured or natural fertilizer work better on plants? In what soil do plants grow the best? Do plants grow better with worms in the soil or without?
