Computers were made not like what we see today where we mindlessly use them to check out s, watch movies, play games, do work or school work. It all started in 1880, when the United States population grew so large that the government invented a way to gather an accurate and quick census. It took the government 7 years to come up with a punch-card based system that could produce the kind of results and quickly. Herman Hollerith designs the card system that performed the census and saved the government $5 million who then later creates the well known company called IBM. Today, there are all different kinds of computers that we use in everyday life from traditional laptops, desktops, tablets, phones, appliances, and many more that we use other than punching cards like the first computers.

There are many factors that affect information technology from outsourcing work overseas mainly India and other countries that companies hire for cheaper labor force. Workers are also not the only thing that are outsourced as computers are made up of many components which come together to function. A lot of the components can be manufactured cheaper in a country that offer cheaper labor to offer competitive prices. Aside from the labor and manufacturing effects on the field, we are in the age of information and technology which shows a positive growth for information technology. Every year new kinds of computers are made with technical enhancements. Smart phones and smart TVs are just a few enhancements of computer growth where all other technical gadgets coming out have some sort of computer system running them to function. With the age of information, we consistently share and trade information across the globe with these computers so the potential of growth is forever growing. Every year we have new breakthroughs of different ways we use computers and how we tie them into our lives to create a more efficient or to even pass the time with entertainment.

Because computers are incorporated in a vast majority of our lives, information confidentiality is a main concern. Computers help many businesses and touch all kinds of fields such as law, medical, financial, technical, government, and educational institutions are just a few groups that use computers to operate. Computers are involved in these fields could contain top secret information at a national level, client information, patient information, student information, and company finances. If these computers are not locked down properly we would have an outbreak of information spread in places that could do harm to either country or individual involved. Because information breach is a real concern, there are different industries that deal in sensitive information the government has 2 laws, 25 regulations, and 16 standards that industries must follow.

Digital copyrights are a major issue in today's day in age as companies or individuals place copyrights on products, ideas, media, and software. There are many websites or means to obtain a song or movie for example where a person can sample the media without properly paying the owners of the media. Software/coding make-up/algorithms are also a form of information that is taken by individuals who to not properly own the rights to them but use them in violation to the legitimate owner.

Lenovo and Cisco are tied for fourth position. The key players in server dominance are HP, Dell, and IBM with HP still holding the no.1 spot.

The size of the industry of computers are divided into 3 categories: Cloud Computing Services - $76 billion Entertainment Software - $10.5 billion Electronic Commerce - $195 billion Economic Fluctuations - Holidays and special occasions some of the driving fluctuation as far as sales go for computers and electronics (Black Friday, Cyber Mondays, and Christmas for example). Another method would be like I stated above, where are company introduces a product that really entices consumers to buy their products in the promise of convenience and wow factor. Operational/Management Trends - Automation has always been a major game changer in operations as it will alleviate human errors and production remains optimal so long as the machines/computers are operational. Managers are the driving force as they direct and lead the employees that serve under them to regulate, form operating procedures, and boost morality within the workplace.
