PROGRESS FUTURE ACTIVITIES INVOLVEMENT IN OTHER NDPHS ACTIVITIES SIHLWA

1. Partners’ involvement in SIHLWA’s action Canada: Indigenous Mental Health, Addictions & Parenting. New SIHLWA section, Canada Lead Partner, Sweden: EU Chairmanship. Alcohol policies. NCM: Social wellbeing project scale-up and involvement in indigenous peoples health & social well-being, Co-Lead Partner, WHO-EURO: see NFF

2. SIHLWA’s leadership (election of co-lead partners when lacking) Lead Partner continues to be Finland Co-Lead partner continues to be Lithuania Indigenous section (sub-group?) Lead Partner Canada Indigenous section (sub-group?) Co-Lead Partner NCM?

3. Election of SIHLWA’s & sub-Groups’ chairs and co-chairs (where lacking) ADO chair from Finland (3 years), Co-chair from Lithuania 1 year. OSH chair from ILO (3 years), Co-chair from Lithuania 3 year. ALC chair should be from WHO-EURO, but still a.i. from Finland. Co-chair from RF/SPb (3 years) has problems with travel funds. Second Co-chair from Poland starts to have proböems with travel funds! Indigenous MHA&P chair from Canada (tentative), Co- chair?

4. SIHLWA’s financial basis and ideas and efforts to ensure adequate funding for activities & projects If partners would “walk their talk” we would have no problems. First strategic principle should be that all partners do what they have committed to. Project funding always scarce. So is good project implementation and resources for management and supervision. Don’t try to swallow more than you can chew! Associated projects! Scale-up! Find out! Data-base!

ADO: A&DPrev SPb -> > 2010 Social well-being NCM & Finland ? Others?? OSH: N-W Russia -> rd phase Finland, ILO, others? ALC: EIBI -> Russia ? Baltics? Lessons learned from 2008 feasibility project. Attitudes is Russia may prevent implementation: own input missing and not fully understood. Indigenous Mental health, Addictions & Parenting -> 2010 ? CAN & NCM? Associated projects! Keep in mind – ITA to follow up 5. SIHLWA’s project based activities and development of new projects as well as coordinated lobbying for donors for project funding

6. SIHLWA’s new thematic reports SIHLWA stakeholder analysis (under preparation) ADO health & social well-being thematic report (under preparation) ALC health & social well-being thematic report Indigenous health & social well-being thematic report Also fact sheets are needed (ADO, ALC, Indigenous, SIHLWA & OSH updates) ? Funding? Not much is needed but 0-budget does not work, either.

7. SIHLWA’s hosts for upcoming meetings SIHLWA-8: 4-5 May Östersund (NPHI) Sweden SIHLWA-9: Autumn 2009 NCM & WHO-EURO/ CPH? SIHLWA-10: 1st half of 2010? (EST, LVA, RF, POL?) SIHLWA-11: 2nd half of 2010?? (EST, LVA, RF, POL?) Schedule meetings well in advance 1-2 years!

SIHLWA Cooperation with other EGs and joint activities Cooperation requires time – where to get it?
