EXTRA ANSWER SHEETS OUT OF DISTRICT STUDENTS DO NOT use an extra answer sheet for a student in an Out of District placement or from another building unless it has the correct LEA/Location Code. COPYING SHEETS DO NOT COPY Extra Answer sheets because they have unique Answer Sheet ID numbers. REGENTS

EXTRA ANSWER SHEETS – Use an extra answer sheet… If there isn’t a pre- printed answer sheet for the student. If the pre-printed answer sheet was destroyed or damaged prior to test administration. If the student’s ID is incorrect. NOTE: If a student does not have an answer sheet, check that their information is in the Student Information System and that the information is correct. REGENTS

REGENTS – ACHIEVING SUCCESS When you receive your answer sheets, review them to verify that all the sheets are printed. BEFORE SCANNING: Are all CR items bubbled in? DO NOT LEAVE ANY CONSTRUCTED RESPONSE QUESTIONS BLANK. Are there stray teacher scoring marks in the MC grid? EXTRA ANSWER SHEETS Are there used extra answer sheets where the Student ID has not been written in, or are there less than or more than 9 digits? Is the student’s name written on both sides of the sheet? Is their grade and teacher’s name printed legibly in the space provided? Did you verify with CIO that the Student ID is correct and students are listed in Level 0 with valid Demographic and Enrollment records? REGENTS

Algebra Scores Prompt Second Look at Revamped Regents Exams By Kate Taylor The New York Times, November 30, 2015 Confronted with the consequences of higher standards, the Regents, like education officials across the country, are now rethinking them. This fall, they established a committee to study the results on the new exams to determine, among other things, whether the bar for passing, which students would have to meet starting in 2022, has been set too high. (They had originally said the class of 2017 would need the higher scores to pass, but last year decided to push that back.) MaryEllen Elia, the state education commissioner, said no decision had been made. “Does it look reasonable right now?” she said of the “college- ready” standard. “I would say, no, it doesn’t. And I would say, what we have to do is we have to keep our eye on that.” REGENTS
